From 1 Sep 2018, CorpPass will be the only login method for Government-to-Business transactions (paying tax, update biz profile, etc). Other login methods will not be accepted for online corporate transactions with the Government.
What is CorpPass?
After your company registration, there are multiple transactions needed to be made with the Government regarding taxation, auditing and so on. CorpPass is a corporate digital identity for businesses and other entities (such as non-profit organisations and associations) to transact with Government agencies online. Managed by Government Technology Agency (GovTech), CorpPass marks the first time that the Government is rolling out a single corporate digital identity. This creates opportunities for even more services and transactions to be provided online conveniently and securely.
What CorpPass Will Do For Businesses
Currently, a lot of business transactions are being conducted through digital entities such as SingPass and EASY. Multiple digital identities can sometimes be confusing to keep track of and users may become wary about the level of security for transactions conducted online.
This single corporate digital identity enhances the level of convenience for users, especially those who conduct transactions with multiple government agencies because they will not need to handle multiple login identities anymore. This allows businesses to have a greater level of control as well since they will be able to grant access and manage the employees access to these digital government services.
Registering for a CorpPass
To obtain a CorpPass, businesses would need to enlist the services of a Registered Officer (RO) who has a SingPass account to get the registration done.
There are four types of CorpPass account to choose from:
- The CorpPass Administrator account (Admin) – chosen by RO, max 2/entity – able to do transacting with digital services, view the entity’s details on CorpPass, create other CorpPass accounts and manage the users and digital services access
- The CorpPass Sub-Administrator account (Sub-Admin) – able to do transacting with digital services, view the entity’s details on CorpPass, create other CorpPass accounts and manage the users and digital services access (unless restticted by Admin)
- The CorpPass Enquiry User account – only able to transact with digital services and view the entity details on CorpPass
- The CorpPass User account – only able to transact with digital services and nothing more
The Admin and User would also need to be a SingPass account holder. The Administrator will be nominated by the RO.
The RO will be able to approve, view and terminate the CorpPass Administrator accounts by logging in with their SingPass. For the RO to be able to transact with the digital services, they would need to register for a CorpPass Administrator account for themselves and have the entity’s CorpPass Administrator create a User account for them.
Setting up a CorpPass for your business entity will require you to register for a CorpPass Admin account. If you would like to register for a CorpPass account for your company, the local company director would be able to get it done as long as they have a valid SingPass account.
