1. On 17 April 2023, the Governments of the Republic of Singapore and the Federative Republic of Brazil signed a Protocol amending the Agreement between the Republic of Singapore and the Federative Republic of Brazil for the Elimination of Double Taxation in relation to Income Taxes and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance (DTA) and its Protocol (May 2018 Protocol).
2. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, the foreign minister of Singapore, and Mr. Mauro Vieira, the foreign minister of Brazil, signed the document in Brazil.
3. Article 11 (Interest) of the DTA and Paragraph 7 of the May 2018 Protocol both had minor translation errors that have been fixed by this Protocol.
4. On the website of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, you may see the complete text of the Protocol that was signed on 17 April 2023. The Protocol won’t take effect until both nations have ratified it.
